I found this on the bathroom window cill in my hotel this morning. Apparently it’s a Harlequin Ladybird, which were first spotted in the UK in 2004 in the south east. This one was in Chester, which is on the limits of their current sightings, so he’s probably a member of the Harlequin Ladybird advance party of special forces. Or he was lost.
Unfortunately they’re not very compatible with our native species, they could have same effect as grey squirrels have had on the reds.
